USDC business account: holding and using stablecoins as a company
A USDC business account lets a company hold the Circle stablecoin beside its dollar balance and move between them. It is useful when customers, contractors or partners already work in USDC.

"USDC business account" is the first completion after "USDC business". Companies ask because a customer or contractor wants to pay or be paid in USDC.
What it does
| Action | Example |
|---|---|
| Receive USDC | A Web3 customer pays an invoice in USDC |
| Hold | Keep USDC beside USD |
| Convert | Swap USDC to USD at a shown fee |
| Pay out | Send USDC to a contractor's wallet |
The rules in 2026
The GENIUS Act, signed in July 2025, created a federal framework for payment stablecoin issuers, with reserve, disclosure and supervision rules. Implementing rules and deadlines follow. See GENIUS Act explained.
Accounting and tax
The IRS treats digital assets as property. Converting USDC to USD can be a taxable event, even if the gain is tiny. Keep records of each receipt and conversion.
When it helps
- Customers in crypto-native businesses who pay in USDC.
- Contractors in countries with slow or unavailable local rails.
- Moving money between your own entities outside banking hours.
When it does not
If all your customers and contractors use bank transfers, USDC adds a step.
Paying into the United States: the local rail
| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| Local rail | ACH for batch payments; RTP and FedNow for instant transfers |
| Run by | Nacha for ACH; The Clearing House for RTP; the Federal Reserve for FedNow |
| Settlement | Same-day ACH within the business day, standard ACH the next; RTP and FedNow in seconds, 24/7, where both banks take part |

Where Rivet fits
Every Rivet plan includes USDC and USDT beside your fiat balances, with on- and off-ramps and fees shown before you confirm. Rivet is not a bank; regulated partner institutions hold the funds. See stablecoins explained for finance teams and Ramps.
