"UAE business bank account for non residents" is the first suggestion Google gives after "UAE business bank account". People set up a company in a free zone in a week, then find the bank account is the slow part.
What banks ask for
| Document | Notes |
|---|---|
| Trade licence | Mainland or free zone |
| Memorandum and articles of association | With shareholding |
| Share certificate or register | For each owner |
| Passports, visas, Emirates IDs | For shareholders, managers and signatories |
| Proof of business activity | Contracts, invoices, website, office lease |
| Expected flows | Countries, currencies, monthly volumes |
Why non-residents wait
UAE banks apply the Central Bank's anti-money-laundering standards and look for substance: a real operation with a reason to be in the UAE. Owners who live abroad, have no UAE visa and plan to receive money from many countries get more questions. Some banks want a resident signatory with an Emirates ID.
How to prepare
- Write a one-page summary: what you sell, to whom, where, and in which currencies.
- Show the first contracts or invoices.
- Document the source of the initial capital.
- Register for corporate tax once you are eligible and keep the TRN letter ready.
- Apply to banks whose minimum balance fits your cash position.
A common setup
Many UAE companies hold an AED account at a local bank for rent, salaries and visas, and use a multi-currency account for USD, EUR and GBP receipts and payouts abroad.

Where Rivet fits
Rivet gives registered companies USD details on the free Starter plan and EUR and GBP on Growth, with payouts to 120+ countries. KYB returns a verdict in 3 business days, and we ask for the missing item, not the whole file again. Check our eligibility list for UAE companies. Rivet is not a bank; regulated partner institutions hold the funds. See AED business account and KYB documents.
Questions people ask
Can a non-resident open a business bank account in the UAE?
Some banks accept non-resident owners of UAE companies, often with more documents and a higher minimum balance. Others require a resident signatory. Ask each bank before applying.
How long does it take to open a UAE business account?
From a few days at some digital banks to several weeks at traditional banks, depending on the company's profile and how complete the file is.
Do free zone companies have a harder time?
Not always, but banks look closely at activity, substance and expected flows. A company with an office, staff or local contracts usually moves faster.
What else should I prepare?
A short business plan, sample invoices or contracts, the source of the initial capital, and your corporate tax registration once you have it.
