Airwallex alternatives: five business accounts to compare in 2026

Airwallex is strong for growing teams that want cards and spend control. If its per-user pricing, SWIFT fees or country list do not fit, here is what else to look at.

Airwallex does a lot well: multi-currency accounts, corporate cards, bills and expenses in one product. Companies look for alternatives for specific reasons, and the right alternative depends on which reason is yours.

Competitor figures are from each provider's pricing page, read on 1 November 2026.

Why companies look beyond Airwallex

  1. Per-user pricing. Grow is 12 USD per user per month plus a platform fee, and "user" includes anyone who holds a card or approves an expense.
  2. SWIFT payouts. Airwallex lists 15 to 25 USD per SWIFT transfer.
  3. Eligibility. Airwallex serves companies in its supported markets, and some founders' companies or home countries are not on the list.

Wise Business

Wise is the closest like-for-like on accounts and transfers, and usually cheaper on conversion. It has fewer spend controls and no credit. Our Wise Business alternatives guide looks at it from the other side.

Revolut Business

Revolut's plans include a monthly allowance of FX at the interbank rate: 1,000 USD on Basic, 20,000 USD on Grow and 80,000 USD on Scale. Above that, it charges 0.6%, and 1% outside market hours. Each plan also includes a set number of free local and international transfers. If your monthly conversion fits inside an allowance, it can be the cheapest option. Payoneer

Payoneer is strongest for sellers and freelancers paid by marketplaces. For a company billing clients directly, its withdrawal fees add up. See Payoneer fees explained.

Mercury

Mercury is a US banking product for US companies. It is excellent at USD, and it is not trying to be multi-currency. Non-US founders with a US LLC often look at it first. The Mercury alternatives guide covers that case.

Rivet

Rivet opens accounts for companies registered in the countries we support, including many that the providers above do not serve, and for US LLCs whose owners live abroad. USD details in the company's name come with the free plan; EUR and GBP with Growth. Plan prices are flat, not per user, and cards are prefunded with no credit check. Payouts go to 120+ countries. See Pricing.

How to choose

Start with eligibility: will the provider accept your company and your owners? Then add up a normal month: what you receive, what you convert, what you pay out, and how many people need cards. The cheapest provider on paper is often not the cheapest for your mix.

Questions people ask

What is similar to Airwallex?

Wise Business, Revolut Business and Rivet all offer multi-currency accounts with local details, cards and international payouts. Payoneer is similar for receiving from marketplaces. Mercury overlaps on USD accounts and cards for US companies.

What is better, Airwallex or Wise?

Wise is usually cheaper for a small team that converts often. Airwallex is stronger on cards, expense approvals and accounts payable for a growing team. Our Airwallex vs Wise vs Rivet comparison lines up the fees.

Is Airwallex risky?

Airwallex is a licensed payments company in its markets. As with every fintech, the practical risk is an account review or restriction, so keep your KYB information current and have a second account for continuity.

Does Airwallex work in Nigeria?

Airwallex onboards companies by country of registration, and its supported list changes. Check its current list for your country. A Nigerian founder with a company registered elsewhere, such as a US LLC or UK Ltd, is assessed on that company's country plus the owners' residence.
