Withdrawals convert to rand and land in your local account. The bank reports the inflow under the BOP system.

Freelancer or company

  • A freelancer paid by Upwork or Fiverr can use Payoneer. See withdrawing Fiverr and Upwork earnings.
  • A Cape Town company invoicing a UK client £10,000 a month is better served by its own bank, with a CFC account if it pays costs in pounds.

Where Rivet fits

South African exchange control decides whether a South African company may hold proceeds abroad, so Rivet does not pitch offshore accounts to South African-registered companies. Rivet serves registered companies in supported countries, including foreign companies owned by South African founders where eligible. Rivet is not a bank; regulated partner institutions hold the funds. See Payoneer fees explained.

South African users withdraw Payoneer funds to local banks, including Capitec. Check Payoneer's current withdrawal options for your account.

South African companies paying overseas suppliers

A South African company paying a supplier abroad does it through an authorised dealer bank, with a BOP category and supporting documents. The personal R1 million allowance is for individuals, not companies.
