Payoneer alternatives for agencies and companies in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh
Payoneer is the default for freelancers in South Asia. Once you register a company, the questions change: whose name is on the account, how proceeds are reported, and what each hop costs.

"Payoneer alternative in Pakistan" and "payoneer alternative in bangladesh" are among the most searched Payoneer phrases. Most of the people searching are freelancers. This guide is for the next step: the agency or software company that has registered as a business and wants its payment setup to match.
Rules on foreign exchange differ by country and change often. Treat this as a map of what to ask, and confirm the current rules with your bank.
What changes when you register a company
A freelancer receives in their own name. A company should receive in the company's name, for three reasons:
- Clients' finance teams pay suppliers, not individuals, and expect the account name to match the invoice.
- Your accountant has to show company revenue in company accounts.
- Local rules on export proceeds apply to the business, and the paper trail needs to show the business earned it.
Payoneer offers business accounts too, so it is not ruled out. The question is what each route costs and whether it fits your local reporting.
What Payoneer costs, for comparison
From Payoneer's pricing page on 1 November 2026:
| Step | Fee |
|---|---|
| Receive into local-currency receiving details | Free |
| Receive into receiving details in another currency | 1%, minimum 1 USD |
| Convert between balances | 0.50% |
| Withdraw with conversion | 1.2% to 4% |
| Minimum withdrawal fee in some countries | Up to 20 USD |
| Annual fee if under 6,000 USD received in 12 months | 29.95 USD |
The full breakdown is in Payoneer fees explained.
The local rules in each country
Pakistan
The State Bank of Pakistan sets the rules for foreign exchange, including how IT and IT-enabled services exporters receive and keep foreign currency. Exporters can retain part of their proceeds in foreign currency accounts under conditions the SBP sets. Whatever provider you use, the money's final step into a Pakistani bank should be recorded as an export of services.
India
Under the Reserve Bank of India's rules for export of goods and services, proceeds must be realised and repatriated within set time limits, with the right purpose code. Exporters can keep part of their earnings in an Exchange Earners' Foreign Currency (EEFC) account. Providers that pay into Indian accounts should give you the documents your bank needs to issue the inward remittance record.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh Bank controls which foreign currency accounts and inbound channels businesses can use. IT exporters have specific provisions. Ask your bank which routes are permitted for your business before you choose a provider.
How to compare alternatives
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Are account details in the company's name? | Client finance teams and your accountant |
| What does receiving cost by rail (ACH, wire, SEPA)? | Most B2B clients pay by bank |
| What is the conversion margin? | The largest cost on most routes |
| What does it cost to withdraw to your local bank? | The step Payoneer charges most for |
| How many hops does the money make? | Each hop adds a fee or a rate |
| Does it accept your country and your owners? | Nothing else matters if not |
Where Rivet fits
Rivet opens accounts for registered companies in the countries we support, with USD details in the company's name on the free plan and FX from 0.80% on Starter. Ask us about your country before you apply, because support depends on where the company is registered and where its owners live. For an agency paying contractors across South Asia, Payouts pays each one on their local rail in one batch. The Payoneer vs Rivet comparison runs a full month of numbers.
Questions people ask
What is the best alternative to Payoneer in Pakistan?
For an individual freelancer paid by Upwork or Fiverr, Payoneer or direct-to-bank withdrawal is often simplest. For a registered company billing clients directly, look for USD details in the company's name, a published FX margin, and a clean route to your Pakistani bank so proceeds are recorded correctly under State Bank of Pakistan rules.
What can Indian businesses use instead of Payoneer?
Indian exporters of services can receive into an EEFC or regular account at an Indian bank, or use a payment provider that settles to one. The proceeds need the right purpose code and a record of the inward remittance. Compare providers on how they handle that record, as well as on fees.
What is a Payoneer alternative in Bangladesh?
Options are narrower in Bangladesh because of foreign exchange rules. Freelancers and IT exporters typically receive through Payoneer or directly into a local bank account. A registered company should ask its bank which foreign currency accounts and inbound methods Bangladesh Bank permits for its business type.
Is it cheaper to receive directly into a local bank?
Sometimes. A direct wire avoids a middle provider, but intermediary banks may deduct fees and the local bank converts at its own rate. A provider with local USD details can be cheaper if its conversion margin and withdrawal fee are lower. Compare the amount that lands, not the advertised fee.
