"Netherlands e-invoicing mandate" and "netherlands e invoicing mandate date" lead Google's suggestions. The honest answer is that the date is planned but not yet law.

What it means in practice

A structured e-invoice in a standard format, sent through a network such as Peppol, that the customer's software reads without retyping. A PDF is not one.

How to prepare

  1. Ask your bookkeeping software about Peppol sending and receiving.
  2. Collect customers' Peppol IDs or KvK numbers.
  3. Standardise invoice numbering and references.
  4. Watch the Ministry of Finance's consultation.

Payments

Invoices that reach a customer's system instantly get approved faster, but the money still has to match. Payments with the invoice number as the reference reconcile automatically.

Where Rivet fits

Rivet gives Dutch companies EUR details with an IBAN on Growth, plus GBP and USD details, and records each receipt with the payer and reference. Rivet is not a bank; regulated partner institutions hold the funds. See e-invoicing mandates 2026 to 2028.

Questions people ask

When will e-invoicing be mandatory in the Netherlands?

Most sources point to 1 July 2030 for domestic and intra-EU B2B invoices. The law was still being drafted at the time of writing; check the Ministry of Finance.

Is e-invoicing mandatory for government suppliers?

Yes. Suppliers to central government send structured e-invoices.

What is ViDA?

VAT in the Digital Age, an EU package that brings mandatory e-invoicing and digital reporting for intra-EU B2B supplies from July 2030.

What should we do now?

Check that your software can send and receive Peppol invoices, clean customer data, and match payment references to invoice numbers.
