Cameroon company registration: CFCE, RCCM and NIU

Cameroonian companies are registered through the CFCE one-stop shop, which issues the trade register (RCCM) number and coordinates the taxpayer number (NIU). The bank account comes next.

  4. File at a CFCE with the articles and directors' documents.
  5. Receive the RCCM number and the NIU.

Both appear on invoices, contracts and bank documents.

Founders abroad

Founders outside Cameroon can create a company through a representative with a power of attorney. Banks will still identify directors and owners.

After registration

The company needs an account at a Cameroonian bank for local payments, taxes and any foreign currency operations, which follow BEAC and CEMAC rules.

Where Rivet fits

CEMAC rules decide whether a Cameroonian company may hold proceeds abroad, so Rivet does not pitch offshore accounts to Cameroonian-registered companies. Rivet serves registered companies in supported countries, including foreign companies owned by Cameroonian founders where eligible. Rivet is not a bank; regulated partner institutions hold the funds. Cameroon and CEMAC exchange rules: what exporters must repatriate and when

Cameroon shares a currency and an exchange regulation with five other CEMAC states. Since 2018 the rules require exporters to bring proceeds home within a set period and pass a share to the BEAC. Holding money abroad is restricted. Enforcement has tightened, especially for extractive sectors.
