Best bank for international wire transfers for a US business
The wire fee is the small number. The exchange rate on a converted wire is usually the big one. Here is what US business accounts charge for both, and when a local payout beats a wire.

Google completes "best bank for international wire" with "transfers", "transfers in usa" and "transfers reddit". Most answers rank banks by the wire fee. For a business, the fee is rarely the biggest cost. Figures below were read on each provider's page on 4 November 2026.
What US business accounts charge
| Wire fee | Conversion | |
|---|---|---|
| Mercury | $0 USD international; $15 for OUR | 1% |
| Bluevine | Up to $25 per international payment | Up to 1.5% |
| BILL | $19.99 international USD wire | Exchange rate applies |
| Melio | $20 global ACH in USD | Conversion rates apply |
The cost you do not see
Send $10,000 to a supplier in Germany in US dollars, and the supplier's bank converts it. Its margin might be 1% to 3%, and an intermediary bank may take $15 to $30 on the way. The supplier receives less than the invoice and asks you to make up the difference.
Send it in euros and your provider converts. Now the margin is yours to compare: 1% on Mercury, up to 1.5% on Bluevine, less on a multi-currency account.
Wires or local payouts
A SWIFT wire passes through correspondent banks. A local payout pays the recipient through their country's own system, such as SEPA in Europe or Faster Payments in the UK. It is usually faster, has no intermediary fees and arrives in full.
A quick check before each payment
- Ask the recipient which currency they want.
- Compare your provider's rate to the mid-market rate.
- Choose OUR terms on a wire if the full amount must arrive.
- Use a local rail if your provider has one for that country.
