Monzo Business international payments: the fees after 1 November 2026

Monzo cut the fixed fee on most outgoing international payments on 1 November 2026. The 1% fee on foreign currency coming in did not change, and for a company paid from abroad that is the bigger number.

Monzo published version 1.16 of its business fee information on 18 August 2026, with a change that took effect on 1 November. Sending money abroad got cheaper for most currencies. Receiving foreign money did not change.

Extra chargesSome currencies carry additional fees or taxes

Monzo links a per-currency PDF from the fee page, and the app shows the exchange rate and the full charge before you pay. That preview is the number to compare. A low fixed fee tells you little if the rate is a long way from the mid-market rate, so put the app's quote next to the Bank of England or market rate for the same moment. Our guide to the mid-market rate and FX markup shows how.

Receiving money from abroad

The account holds pounds. When a client pays in euros or any other non-sterling currency, Monzo converts it to sterling and charges 1% of the payment, capped at £1,000.

Three examples:

  • A €2,000 payment from a client in Ireland loses the sterling value of €20.
  • A $25,000 invoice paid by a US client loses the sterling value of $250, before anything the sender's bank or an intermediary takes.
  • The £1,000 cap only bites on payments worth more than £100,000.

The fee is predictable, which is good. The issue is that it applies to every receipt, including money you will later spend in the same currency. A design agency paid $25,000 a month that pays $6,000 of US software and contractor bills converts dollars to pounds on the way in, then pounds back to dollars on the way out.

Who the new pricing suits

A UK company that pays an overseas supplier now and then is better off after 1 November, provided the rate in the app holds up against the market. A company whose income arrives in foreign currency is not much affected, because its main cost is the 1% on the way in.

Keeping dollars and euros as dollars and euros

Account details in the client's currency avoid the forced conversion. US clients pay USD details by ACH, EU clients pay a euro IBAN by SEPA, and you convert only the surplus, when you choose.

Rivet gives UK limited companies USD details on the free Starter plan and EUR and GBP details on Growth, with FX from 0.50% shown before you confirm and payouts to 120+ countries. Rivet is not a bank, regulated partner institutions hold client funds, and it does not replace a sterling account for HMRC or cash. Many companies keep Monzo for sterling and use Rivet for the rest. Questions people ask

How much does Monzo Business charge for international payments?

Since 1 November 2026, the fixed fee is less than £0.80 for most currencies and up to £11 for some, with additional fees or taxes on a few currencies. The app shows the rate and total before you confirm. Monzo publishes a per-currency breakdown linked from its business fee page.

Can I receive euros into a Monzo Business account?

Yes, but they are converted to pounds on arrival with a 1% conversion fee, capped at £1,000. The account does not hold a euro balance.

Does Monzo Business charge for using the card abroad?

No for card payments in a foreign currency and for cash withdrawals in the EEA. Outside the EEA, withdrawals are free up to £200 in a rolling 30-day period and cost 3% after that.

Is Monzo Business good for a company with clients abroad?

For a few foreign payments a year it is fine. For a company invoicing in dollars or euros every month, the 1% conversion on every receipt adds up, and an account with local USD or EUR details lets clients pay without that conversion.

Payoneer alternatives for UK limited companies

Payoneer works well for marketplace payouts. UK companies invoicing clients directly often find its withdrawal and conversion fees add up, and look for an account in the company's name with local currency details.

How a UK limited company receives payments from the USA

US clients can pay a UK company four ways. An international wire is the default and the most expensive for both sides. ACH to US details in your company's name is usually the cheapest.
