## What is a stablecoin on-ramp for a business?

A stablecoin on-ramp turns a company’s fiat into USDC or USDT. With Rivet, clients or your own bank pay into your USD, EUR or GBP account details, you accept a quote showing the rate and the fee, and the coins land beside your fiat. Margins run from 0.80% on Starter to 0.15% on Enterprise.

## From fiat to USDC

### The money lands

Any bank account in your company name pays into your USD, EUR, GBP or AED details on the local rail. That balance is what you convert from.

### You get a quote

The quote shows the rate, the fee and the exact amount you will receive. Nothing converts until you accept it.

### A person approves it

Someone with the right role accepts it, inside your approval thresholds. The conversion carries a reference for your ledger.

### It sits beside your fiat

USDC and USDT sit next to your USD, EUR and GBP. Hold the same coin on more than one network and move between them from inside the account.

## Work out a conversion

Type an amount and pick a plan. The margin falls as the plan rises, from 0.80% on Starter to 0.15% on Enterprise.

## When each rail runs

The on-ramp starts when the money lands, so the rail sets the pace. Once it is in your balance you can convert at any hour.

## Stablecoin payments in 2026, in figures

Public reports, read in November 2026. Each row says where it comes from, so you can check it. Methods differ between reports, so the rows do not add up to one total.

## Who uses an on-ramp

Local rails close overnight, at weekends and on public holidays. A stablecoin balance does not, so the payout that needs to go out on Friday evening goes out on Friday evening.

Convert a working balance into USDC to keep it in dollars without opening an offshore account, then convert back when you need to pay locally.

Collect in USD, EUR and GBP, hold a dollar float in USDC, and pay sellers out on whichever rail reaches them.

## The rules, with their dates

Holding or paying in a stablecoin does not make a company an issuer. The rules below bind the issuers of USDC and USDT. Rules on using them still differ by country, so check the ones where your company and your counterparties are.

- 30 June 2024

The stablecoin chapters of the EU’s MiCA regulation apply. A dollar stablecoin offered to the public in the EU is an e-money token, and its issuer needs authorisation there.

- 18 July 2025

The GENIUS Act becomes US federal law. A permitted issuer must hold one-to-one reserves in cash and short-dated Treasuries, publish them monthly, and may not pay holders interest.

- April 2026

FinCEN and OFAC propose the anti-money-laundering and sanctions programmes a permitted issuer must run.

- August 2026

The US Treasury proposes the rules on who may issue, offer and sell a payment stablecoin to people in the US. Comments closed in October. Final rules were still pending in November 2026.

FAQ

## Questions about the on-ramp

Any bank account in your company name. You transfer into the account details you already hold in USD, EUR, GBP and more, using the local rail for that currency.

Yes. The quote shows the rate, the fee and the exact amount you will receive before you confirm. Nothing converts until you accept it.

Two parts: the conversion margin, from 0.80% on Starter, 0.50% on Growth, 0.30% on Scale and 0.15% on Enterprise, and the network fee the blockchain charges, usually cents, passed through at cost. Both are on the quote before you confirm.

The wait is the bank leg: seconds on SEPA Instant and Faster Payments, the same day by wire, one to three banking days by ACH. Once the money is in your balance you can convert at any hour.

An account where a company holds stablecoins such as USDC and USDT alongside ordinary bank balances. Here both sit in one workspace: clients pay into your USD or EUR details, you convert when you choose, and you pay out in either form under the same roles and approvals.

USDC and USDT, on Ethereum, Base, Solana, Polygon, Optimism and Avalanche. You can hold the same stablecoin on more than one network and move between them from inside the account.

Whichever your counterparties accept and can convert where they are. USDT is the larger by supply and the more common in many emerging markets. USDC is issued under an EU e-money licence and is the usual choice where a company wants US-regulated reserves. You can hold both here, on more than one network, and move between them.

Each conversion carries a reference and shows the rate used, so it lands on your statement beside the bank movements it belongs to. Most finance teams record the date, the amount, the counterparty, the network and the transaction reference for each one. How you book them depends on your accounting framework, so ask your accountant before holding a material balance.

Yes. Roles, approval thresholds and the audit trail cover treasury and ramp actions the same way they cover payouts and cards.

In many countries, yes, under rules that differ by place. The US has had a federal framework for issuers since the GENIUS Act of July 2025, and the EU regulates stablecoins under MiCA. Some countries restrict or ban their use. Check the rules where your company and your counterparties are before you rely on them.
