# Greece's B2B e-invoicing in 2026 and myDATA: what exporters need to know

Greece made B2B e-invoicing mandatory in 2026, building on myDATA reporting. The start dates, the role of certified providers, and how foreign sales are recorded.

## Key takeaways

- myDATA is AADE's platform for electronic books: Greek businesses transmit invoice data and receive a unique registration number (MARK) for each document.
- Mandatory B2B e-invoicing started on 2 February 2026 for larger businesses and on 1 October 2026 for the rest, through certified e-invoicing providers.
- Invoices to foreign clients are recorded in myDATA too, with the correct classification for intra-EU or third-country sales.
- Foreign clients pay faster when the invoice carries details they can pay domestically.

A Thessaloniki packaging company invoices a distributor in London. Its accounting software transmits the invoice data to myDATA within seconds and receives a MARK number. A PDF goes to London. The London client pays three weeks later by international transfer into the company's euro account, converted on arrival.

## myDATA first

myDATA (my Digital Accounting and Tax Application) is the Independent Authority for Public Revenue's platform for electronic books. Greek businesses transmit summary data for every invoice and expense document, and each document gets a unique MARK registration number. Data can be sent from accounting software, by direct upload, or through a certified e-invoicing provider.

## B2B e-invoicing in 2026

Greece then made full B2B e-invoicing mandatory, issued through certified e-invoicing providers:

- 2 February 2026: businesses with gross revenue above €1 million in 2023.
- 1 October 2026: all other businesses.

The providers issue structured invoices, deliver them to Greek buyers and transmit the data to myDATA in one step. Penalties for failure to issue e-invoices were phased in after each start date.

## Foreign clients

E-invoicing in the Greek sense applies to domestic B2B transactions. Invoices to clients abroad can go as PDFs or in whatever format the client accepts. Their data still goes to myDATA, with the right document type and income classification for intra-EU or third-country sales. A gap between myDATA and your VAT return is the most common audit trigger.

For most services to EU businesses, the invoice shows no Greek VAT, carries both VAT numbers and refers to the reverse charge. For services to businesses outside the EU, including the UK, it states that Greek VAT does not apply.

## Getting paid

EU clients pay a Greek IBAN by SEPA. UK and US clients are slower: they send international transfers that arrive later and, into a euro account, are converted at the bank's rate. Sterling details for UK clients and US details for American clients make their payment domestic and land the invoice amount in full.

## Paying into Greece: the local rail

| What | Detail |
|---|---|
| Local rail | SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (IRIS for mobile transfers) |
| Run by | European Payments Council scheme, run by each bank |
| Settlement | Under ten seconds, 24/7 |
| Published fee | By the EU Instant Payments Regulation, no more than the bank charges for a standard SEPA transfer |

## Where Rivet fits

Rivet is not a certified e-invoicing provider and does not transmit to myDATA. A Rivet business account handles foreign collections: US account details in the company's own name on every plan, and euro details with an IBAN plus sterling details from the Growth plan. Payments are matched to invoices and balances can be held or converted at a rate shown before you confirm. Rivet is not a bank; regulated partner institutions hold the funds.

## Questions

### What is myDATA?

AADE's digital platform for electronic books. Businesses transmit summary invoice data, either directly, through their accounting software or through a certified e-invoicing provider, and each document receives a MARK number.

### Who had to start B2B e-invoicing in February 2026?

Businesses with gross revenue above €1 million in 2023, as set in the ministerial decision. Other businesses followed from 1 October 2026.

### Do invoices to foreign clients need to be in myDATA?

Yes. Sales to foreign clients are recorded with the right document type and classification so the platform reflects all revenue.

### Do I charge Greek VAT to a client in the UK?

For most services to UK businesses, no. The place of supply is the UK, and the invoice states that Greek VAT does not apply.
